The sea beds in ses Illetes, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, are carpeted with fields of posidonia oceanica, which gives the water its crystal clear appearance and makes it the ideal place for scuba-diving.

Located just 4 km from la Savina, the zone known as ses Illetes, which is part of ses Salines Nature Park, is the northern stretch of shore on the island of Formentera that goes from the es Muntanyar promontory to Punta des Pas.

The area is named after the many barren islets (illots) and reefs (esculls) in the vicinity, such as Escull d’en Palla, Illa des Conills, Escull des Pou, Illa des Pouet and Illa de Tramuntana.

The beaches in the zone are called Platges de ses Illetes and the main ones are ses Xalanes (between es Pujol des Palo and Punta de ses Illetes, opposite Illa des Conills), n’Adolf (next to Pujolet de n’Adolf and opposite Illa de Tramuntana) and the other sandy zones farther north known as es Primer,es Segon and es Tercer.

The last three beaches, which are tongues of fine sandy dunes, face east and west, whereas the others only face west. How to get there: a public bus runs to the spot, however we recommend cycling along the Green Route to enjoy the landscape better.
